13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi - Full Online ( Watch Free )

Movie Summary:
How great is it when movies surprise you? With “13 Hours,” director Michael Bay certainly does.
Yep, the guy who calls shots on popcorn flicks like “Transformers” delivers a gripping, harrowing and heartfelt film about the 2012 attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi. While at it, he transforms John Krasinski — gentle Jim from “The Office” — into a warrior with steel abs and matching ’nads.
Sure, Bay indulges some signature cinematic fetishes. But he shows restraint with the slowed-down, sexed-up shots. War is gritty here, not glamorous. Result: characters, stakes and emotions feel authentic — all the more so thanks to terrific actors including James Badge Dale and Pablo Schreiber as actual ex-military men and family men who battled terrorists.
Krasinski, bearded and buff, plays Jack Silva (a fake name of a real man). He’s one of six ex-military operators assigned to protect the CIA annex in post-Gadhafi Libya.
Bay begins his film in space, near a satellite, then zooms down to, as the text on screen notes, the most dangerous place on the planet. He and screenwriter Chuck Hogan waste no time laying on the tension, and the white-knuckle atmosphere seldom subsides. The script is strictly one-sided, without concern for terrorist motivations. It’s a chilling portrait of anti-American hatred by “bad guys” — a repeated phrase in a script occasionally too blunt for its own good.
During the initial strike on the compound occupied by Ambassador Chris Stevens, Silva and company are nearby but are ordered to do nothing even though residents are sitting ducks. But they do an end-run, setting the stage for streaming gunfights, high-speed car chases and explosions, each crackly choreographed for maximum impact.
Not everyone makes it out alive, as reported at the time. And while there’s no overt agenda or politicizing, one can’t watch “13 Hours” and wonder where was the U.S. forethought — and backup. But that’s missing the point — and takeaway. Subtitled “The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi” and based on a book by members of the security team, the band of brothers-style badassery looms large.
